The Transcript:

All praise is due to Allah. We praise Allah, and seek His help and guidance. We turn to Him in repentance and we put all our affairs in His hands. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and the evil of our bad deeds. Indeed, whoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomever Allah allows to fall astray, there is none who can guide him. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the one true God who has no partner. I also testify that Muhammad (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is Allah?s servant and messenger. Oh Allah, send your abundant peace and blessing upon your servant and prophet Muhammad (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam), his family, his companions, and whoever follows his guidance until the last day.

Oh servants of Allah, fear Allah so that you please Him. It is the fear of Allah that purifies hearts and souls and causes you to succeed in the hereafter. Allah says

“…And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out. And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine… whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him… and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will expiate from him his sins, and will enlarge his reward.”

Hajj [Pilgrimage]

Dear brothers and sisters: My talk to you today is Hajj and its benefits. Allah says in the Qurâ??an: â??And proclaim to the people the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel. They will come from every distant pass that they may witness (i.e., attend) benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known (i.e., specific) days over what He has provided for them of (sacrificial) animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor.â? (Al-Hajj: 27-28)

Dear brothers and sisters: Hajj is one of the greatest signs of Allah that what Muhammad brought is, in reality, the religion of truth; for no human power can gather pilgrims every year from all parts of the world with hearts full of yearning and love, who experience difficulties yet rejoice at leaving their homes and families, feeling that the hours of performing Hajj are the greatest of their lives and spending generously for this purpose.

Ibn â??Abbaas said, â??When Allah commanded the Prophet Abraham to proclaim Hajj amongst the people, he said, â??My Lord, how can I convey the message to the people when my voice cannot reach them?â?? Allah said, â??You call; it is Our duty to make it reach them,â?? so he stood in position and said, â??O you people! Your Lord has chosen a house, so perform pilgrimage to it.â?? It was said that the mountains were levelled and his voice reached all parts of the earth. All that were in the wombs were made to hear the call and everything that heard it responded. So those for whom Allah has decreed Hajj until the Day of Judgment responded, â??Labbayka Allahumma Labbayk (Here I am at your service, O Allah, here I am).â??â?

In this regard, I would like to say that Allah has mentioned it clearly that there are benefits for mankind. These types of benefits are indefinite in number. These benefits are not restricted to one particular area, or time of history. The benefits one may get from the performance of hajj are much more than to be counted. These benefits are good for people in this world and in the hereafter.

Dear brothers and sisters: let me mention some of the benefits for the individuals and for the Muslim society.

As far as the individual benefits are concerned, the following is a partial list of these benefits:

Renewal of the remembrance of Allah and strengthening the relation between the individual and the Creator. The chanting of the pilgrim is nothing more than a confirmation from the creature to Allah, i.e. by saying: Lab-bayk Allahum-ma Lab-bayk, Lab-bayk laa sharika laka Lab-bayk

Remembrance of the Day of Judgement. During Hajj the presence of few million peoples gathering at Arafat in one place, at one time for one purpose, is an indication and a sign of a hereafter. The dress of white towels and clothes are sign of coffins. Such type of remembrance is very important in making a person to remember death and the resurrection.

The performance of Hajj wipes out the sins of a pilgrim. This is a type of a new beginning that helps a person not to lose hope in this world. On the contrary he would strive effectively to please Allah after his sins and mistakes are wiped off. In this regard Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: â??whoever performs pilgrimage without uttering immodest speech or abusing others, he returns just a new-born ( Muslim)

A person sacrifices through the performance of Hajj. He leaves his family, business and country. He spends lots of money, time, effort and energy; and he bears lots of difficulties due to travelling; all of these are for the pleasure and love of Allah. This type of sacrifice helps the individual to overcome all his difficulties in his daily life. The person who strives and sacrifices is amore successful person than a one who does not strive and sacrifice.

The performance of Hajj is a theoretical and practical training course for the individual on the following habits and manners: Patience, Perseverance, humility, organization, management, tolerance, co-operation, kindness, sympathy, politeness, affection, concern, helpfulness etcâ?¦

Dear brothers and sisters: We hope and pray that every Muslim make an effort to perform Hajj at least once in his life-time and let your Hajj be an act of repentance from sin. Finally, we ask Allah for forgiveness and to accept our deeds and prayers.

The virtues of the First Ten Days of Thul Hijjah

Slaves of Allah! You are approaching virtuous days; they are the best days as the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said in an authentic hadeeth: “The best days in this life are the (first) ten days of Thual-Hijjaha. Furthermore, Allah swore by them in His Book, and when Allah swears by something, it is a reflection of its great importance. Allah says that which translates to: “By the dawn. And the nights of the ten daysa (Al Fajr:1-2). These are the first ten days of Thual-Hijjah and they include the day of `Arafah, about which the Prophet Sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “There is no day in which Allah frees more of His slaves from The Fire than the day of `Arafaha (Muslim). These ten days are concluded by the day of An Nahr (sacrifice); then follows the day of Al Qarr. The Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “The greatest days in the scale of Allah are the days of An Nahr and Al Qarra (Abu Daawood). The day of An Nahr is the major day of Hajj and the day of `Eid; the day of Al Qarr is the following day. Virtuous deeds have a magnified position during these days. The Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than the (first) ten days of Thual-Hijjaha (Ad-Daarimi), in another narration the companions asked: “Not even Jihaad for the sake of Allah?a he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “Not even Jihaad for the sake of Allah, except for a man who loses (sacrifices) both his wealth and life in a battlea (Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Ibn Maajah, At-Tirmidhi)

What great virtues and what a great season! What an opportunity this is to collect greater rewards than that of Jihaad, which is the best deed after sound belief and punctual salaah. This season represents a wonderful opportunity for those who want to compete in collecting rewards and a miserable loss for the idle, who shun such opportunities.

Slaves of Allah! Compete for and rush towards the forgiveness of Allah and paradise which is as wide as the heavens and earth and do not slacken and be unhurried, because the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “Being laid-back is best in every matter except for good deedsa (Abu Daawood & Al-Haakim). One must compete and march forward when it comes to working for the hereafter as Allah says that which translates as: “… So for this let the competitors competea (Al Mutaffifeen:26) and also, “.. So race to (all that is) good… (Al-Baqarah:148).

In this season, the roads leading to goodness are numerous, so do not miss out on any of them. The intelligent ones are those who exhaust themselves during this season to gain abundantly; you see many of them joining their days with their nights, continuously doing righteous deeds and hardly sleeping in order to get the most out of this season. On the other hand, you see those who put all their efforts into the attainment of worldly gains. The sad fact is that the result of all this effort would be, at most, the doubling of their capital – if indeed they do not actually lose it. As for the wise believers, nothing is dearer to them than increasing their efforts and righteous deeds that please the Lord, get them closer to Him and elevate their ranks; Allah told us what pleases Him in His Book and through His messenger; Allah will guide those who truly wish for goodness (if He Wills).

Salaah is one of the ways leading to goodness and something that Allah loves. The slave must be keen to perform it in congregation as Allah says that which translates to: “…And bow (in rukooa) with those who bowa (Al Baqarah:43), and the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said, “He who hears the Athaan (call for Salaah) and does not respond, his Salaah is not accepted, except with the congregation, unless he has a (valid) excusea (Ibn Maajah) The excuse is either fear, sickness or rain.

A slave of Allah who is guided would supply himself with optional salaah in these ten days, because it is a path to goodness and something that Allah loves. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “Salaah is the best thing that one can do, so perform as many as you possibly cana (At-Tabaraani) and he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam also said: “Two light rakaaat which you may think as insignificant to add to you deeds, is better for you than possessing the whole worlda (Ibn Al Mubaarak) he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam also said, as narrated by Abu Hurayrah, “The son of Aadam could not do anything more beneficial for himself than salaah, reconciliation (between Muslims) and being well mannereda (Al Bayhaqi and others).

These were three examples of good deeds that lead to righteousness, salaah, reconciliation and being well mannered which are better than anything else that the son of Aadam can do, yet you see some people slight the performance of obligatory salaah, let alone optional salaah; you see them instigating disputes between people; and you see ill-mannered people who have lost out on the great reward for having a good character. So let us repent to Allah from our sins, reform our situation and improve our manners.

A woman was praised in the presence of the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam for her salaah, fasting and other good deeds; her only flaw was that she harmed her neighbours. Upon hearing the praise, the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “She is from the people of the Firea (Ahmad). In reality, the guided ones are those who do all those things which please Allah and refrain from all those things that cause His wrath, as some of the scholars said: “Wisdom is to perform what you are obliged to, in the correct manner and on time; he who is granted wisdom has attained a great deal of gooda.

Some of the Ahaadeeth which mention the virtues of optional salaah are as follows: “Prostrate as much as you can, because whenever you prostrate, Allah elevates your rank by a degree and wipes out a sin from your recorda (Muslim) and in another narration: “Whenever a slave prostrates to Allah, Allah writes a reward for him, wipes out one of his sins and elevates his rank by one degree; so prostrate as much as you cana (Ibn Maajah). The way to perform salaah is as the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam described: “The night salaah is done two (rakaaat) at a timea (Al Bukhaari) and in another narration: “The optional salaah at night and during the day is done two Rakaah at a timea (Ahmad, Ibn Maajah and others).

Slaves of Allah! Another of the paths to righteousness and fields of competition is reciting the Quraaan. The Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “The best amongst you are those who learn the Quraaan and then teach ita (Al Bukhaari) he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam also said: “He who recites a letter from the Book of Allah will get a reward and each of these rewards will be multiplied ten times. I do not mean `Alif Laam Meema is one letter, but rather `Alifa is a letter, `Laam is a letter and `Meema is a lettera (At Tirmidhi) and he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam also said: “If one of goes to the masjid and learns a verse or reads two verses from the Book of Allah, is better for him than owning two she-camels, (reading) three are better than (owning) three, (reading) four are better than (owning) four and so ona (Muslim) and also, “Let him who wants to attain love for Allah and His messenger read from The Book of Allaha.

Another of the fields of goodness is fasting as the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam encouraged us to “Fast on Mondays and Thursdaysa (Ahmad & Nasaaai) and “Fast the day of `Arafaha (Muslim) also: “Fast like the Prophet Daawood (who fasted every other day)a (Bukhaari & Muslim). I do not know of any specific reference that relates to any special virtue for fasting these ten days in particular, but, having said this I would add that one should still fast during these days because of the general texts encouraging good deeds during these ten days.

Another way is giving in charity; `Abdur Rahmaan Ibn Saburah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “(Every day) An Angel calls out in the heavens saying, `O Allah! Bless and compensate for the wealth of the one who spends (for your sake) and ruin the wealth of the one who holds back (from spending)aa (At-Tabaraani) Also he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said to Bilaal, may Allah be pleased with him: “Spend (charitably) O Bilaal! – and do not fear that Allah will decrease your provision (due to your spending)a and he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam addressed Asmaaa, may Allah be pleased with her, saying: “Spend (charitably) and donat count (i.e. donat be cautious in spending in this manner) otherwise your provisions will become limited and donat hold back (from spending in charity) otherwise your provisions will be held backa (Bukhaari & Muslim) The Messenger of Allah sallallahu `alaihi wasallam also said: “I swear that these three things are true: That giving in charity does not decrease the wealth of the slave ……..a (Ahmad & Tirmidhi). Giving in charity enables one to be among the seven categories of people who will be protected under the shade of the Throne of Allah; regarding this, the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “… and a man who gave charity so secretly that even his left hand would not know how much his right hand had spenta (Bukhaari & Muslim) also, “Charity given in secret extinguishes the wrath of Allaha. One of the best forms of charitable giving is to give someone a drink of water as the Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “The best form of charity is giving someone water (to drink)a (Ahmad, An Nasaaai and Ibn Maajah).

O slaves of Allah! One of the best deeds in these days is to initiate Hajj as a way of drawing closer to Allah and fasting the day of `Arafah for those who are not performing Hajj. Allah willing we will talk about the virtues of Hajj in another Khutbah. Offering a sacrificial animal is also one of the most virtuous deeds that one can perform. The Prophet sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “He who does not offer a sacrifice while being financially able to, let him not come close to our masjid (i.e. pray with us)a and he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam also said: “When the ten days (Thual-Hijjah) have begun and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, then let him not cut any of his hair or remove anything from his skina (Muslim) in another narration he sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: “Let him not cut anything from his hair or nails until he sacrificesa (Ad Daarimi).

These are examples of virtuous deeds, so take advantage of them; beware of laziness and neglect and know that Allah has favoured certain seasons over others, so let us take advantage of these opportunities and increase our righteous deeds; perhaps Allah will forgive us for our sins and shortcomings.

Life after Ramadaan

All praise is due to Allaah. We thank Him, we seek for His help and forgiveness. We also seek His refuge against the evils of our souls and that of our deeds. Whoever Allaah guides, nobody can mislead him, and whoever He misleads will never have no guide. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger. May He bestow Peace and blessing upon this noble Prophet, his family and companions.

Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah as He should be feared for, the fear of Allaah is the best treasure for you.

Dear Muslims! Months, days and years are made to determine lifespan and to afford people the oppurtunity to perform good deeds. Further, death do patrol day and night to take the souls of those whose time is due and you shall be addressed on the Day of Ressurection on account of your deeds. It is then that your Lord will say:

“These are only your deeds that has been recorded for you and for which I am going to reward you. So, whoever gets a good reward should be thankful to Allaah and whoever gets otherwise should only blame himself.”

Dear brothers! Your month of Ramadan has now gone with your deeds. Let those who have committed wrong among you quickly repent and mend their ways before Door of Repentance is closed and let those who have done good continue on the same for, the best of all acts of obedience are the the ones followed up with its like. Be concerned more over the acceptance of your deeds than over the deeds itself for, Allaah does not accept deeds except from the pious ones. Also, beware of following up good deeds with bad ones because, if we say that good deeds eradicate bad ones, it is also not impossible that bad deeds destroy good ones.

Brothers in faith! You were – during the just concluded month of righteous – fasting in the day, praying in the night and doing different kinds of sacrificial acts in oder to get reward and to be saved from the Fire. With the depature of this month, a stage of our live has passed. Such is how we pass days of this life in stages on our way to the everlasting abode. Indeed, continuation of good deeds at all time is character of righteous people for, acts of obedience do not have a specific time; it is rather Allaahâ??s unconditional right upon His servants as long as they are alive. Though, month of Ramadaan is an opportunity for the faithfuls to race with one another towards good deeds and an opportunity to direct oneâ??s soul towards meritorious acts and keep it from vices; yet, it is quite incumbent on Muslims to remain on the path of righteousness even after Ramadaan. Worshipping Allaah should not be restricted to Ramadaan alone for, there is no end to Muslimâ??s worship except when he dies. What evil people those who worship only time and do not know Allaah except in Ramadaan!

Dear Muslims! Certainly, the acceptance and rejection of deeds in this month have signs. Among the signs of acceptance of good deed is when it is followed up by good deeds and it is among the signs of rejection to follow up oneâ??s good deeds with evil ones. Therefore, follow up the good deeds with its like, it will be a sign of acceptance of that good deed and follow up your evil deeds with good ones, that will indicate that those evil deeds have been overlooked. Allaah says:

“Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).” (Hood 11:114)

The Prophet saws also said:

“Fear Allaah wherever you are, follow up the evil deed with good one it will remove it and relate with people with good conduct.” (Reported by At-Tirmidhee)

Let those who are determined to go back to sins after Ramadaan know that Allaah is always pleased with those who obey Him regardless of the month the obedience takes place and is angry with those who disobey Him irrespective of the month the disobedience takes place. The essence of posperity lies in long life and good deeds and a personâ??s continuation of good deeds without restricting it to a certain period, particular month or special place is a sign of oneâ??s righteousness and acceptance of his good deeds.

Fellow Muslims! Though Ramadaan season is now gone, yet, fasting is still recommended in other months. The Messenger of Allaah saws has recommended fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. He said:

“Deeds are presented to Allaah on Mondays and Thursdays and I would like that my deeds be presented while I am fasting.”

It is also reported that he admonished Aboo Hurayrah ra thus:

“Fasting for three days in every month is (equal to) fasting forever.” (Reported by Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim).

He also said:

Whoever fasts in the month of Ramadaan and then follows it with six days fasting in Shawwaal has done as if he has fast for live.” (Reported by Muslim)

Though, night prayer during Ramadaan might have gone; yet, the night prayers throughout the year is also recommended. It has been authentically reported from the Prophet saws that

“Allaah use to descend to the nearest heaven to this world when it is the last third of the night and say: â??Who is going to call Me that I may answer him? Who is going to ask from Me that I may give to him? Who is going to seek for my Forgiveness that I may forgive him?”

Therefore, the most pleasing to Allaah of all acts are the ones that are continuously done.

Fellow Muslims! While there are a set of youths who during the noble month of Ramadan were busy passing their time in lustful things, sins and acts of obedience, there are others who were busy doing deeds of righteousness such as Iâ??tikaaf in the Houses of Allaah severing all ties with fellow creatures and meditating with the Creator. They gave obedience of their Lord preference over their own desires. You would see them bowing, prostrating and reciting the Glorious Qurâ??aan. Such youths are the hope and pride of this Ummah.

Dear Muslims! Fear Alllaah for fear of Allaah is the head of all matters. Obey Allaah and keep away from His restrictions, you will achieve His pleasure and be saved from His torment. Do not go back to sins and disobedience so as not to be entitled to His punishment.

Dear brothers, thank your Lord for making you complete the fasting of this month. Enjoy your Eid by remaining consistent on the those good deeds and keep away from undesirable things that are capable of removing Allaahâ??s favors from you. One of our righteous predecessors said:

“Each day in which no act of disobedience to Allaah is committed is Eid and each day a believer spent in acts of obedience to his Lord is Eid”

The Day of Ashura

History of The Day of Ashura (The 10th of Muharram)

When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived in Madinah in 622 CE, he found that the Jews there fasted on the 10th of Muharram and asked them the reason for their fasting on this day.

They said:

This is a blessed day. On this day Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy (in Egypt) and so Prophet Musa [Moses] fasted on this day giving thanks to Allah.

The Prophet (sa) said:

We are closer to Musa than you are. He fasted on that day and commanded Muslims to fast on this day. (Al-Bukhari)

Fasting The Day of Ashura and The Day before it (These are voluntary fasts, they are not obligatory)

When the Messenger of Allah (sa) fasted on “Ashura” and commanded the Muslims to fast as well.

They said:

Messenger of Allah, it is a day that the Jews and Christians honour.

The Messenger of Allah (sa) said:

If I live to see the next year, insha’Allah, we will fast on the ninth day too. But it so happened that the Messenger of Allah (sa) passed away before the next year came.  (Reported by Muslim, 1916).

Al-Shaafa’i and his companions, Ahmad, Ishaaq and others said: It is mustahabb [recommended] to fast both the ninth and the tenth, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted the tenth and intended to fast the ninth.

The intention behind this (fasting on the 9th of Muharram), is to be different from the Jews who limit their fasting to the 10th day. This was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas.

If  “Ashoora” coincides with a Friday, he may fast, because his intention is to fast “Ashoora” and not to fast on a Friday. And Allaah is the Source of strength. Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

NB: You should not observe voluntary fasts when you still owe one or more days from Ramadaan, rather you should start with the fasts that you owe from Ramadaan, and then observe voluntary fasts.

The Reward for Fasting The Day of Ashura

The Prophet (sa) said:

For fasting the day of Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as expiation for (the sins committed in) the year that went before. [Reported by Muslim, 1976]

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Fasting the day of Arafaah expiates for all minor sins, in other words this brings forgiveness for all sins except for major sins. (As they need separate repentance)

The Prophet (sa) used to be very keen to make sure he fasted on the day of Ashoora because of its great status. It was narrated that Ibn Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

I never saw the Prophet (sa) so keen to make sure he fasted any day and preferring it over another except this day, the day of Ashoora, and this month meaning Ramadaan. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1867.)

Stick to the Sunnah – and avoid all Innovations (Bid’aa)

You may of heard of some customs associated with Ashura such as:  cooking and eating certain foods, making specific dhikr, du’a or to read certain surahs a certain number of times, or to make nafl salaah, etc

^ NB: Specifying specific ibadah (worship) on specific days must be backed up with Evidence from one of two sources: The Book Of Allah (The Qur’aan) or the Hadiths (Sunnah of Our Prophet Muhammad – sa); otherwise this action becomes a Bid’aa and its reward becomes fruitless. If one simply wants to make dhikr or wants to read abit extra nafl salaats, there is nothing wrong with this, as this should be done all year round, but to specify it to this day – is innovation.

And you may of also heard of others who consider this day as a day of mourning, wailing, hitting themselves in honour of the Prophet Muhammads (sa) grandson Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) who was killed.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Because of the killing of al-Husayn, the Shaytaan started to spread two kinds of bidah (innovation) amongst the people: the bidah of grieving and wailing on the Day of Aashooraa, striking the cheeks, screaming, weeping and reciting eulogies ; and the bidah of expressing happiness and joy. So some express grief and others express joy, so they started to like the idea of wearing kohl, taking a bath, spending on their families and preparing special kinds of food on the day of Aashooraa and every bidah is a going astray; none of the four imams of the Muslims or others approved of either of these things (either expressing grief or expressing joy)

^ This is all Bid’aa, and we need to stay well away from it and remember the deen of Islaam is complete and is in no need of any addition or alterations.

As Allaah Subhanahu-wa-Taalaa says:

This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [al-Maa’idah 5:3].

It is reported from Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (sa) said:

Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours [Islam] that is not part of it, will have it rejected. [Agreed upon]

Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (sa) used to say in his Friday khutbahs:

The best of speech is the Book of Allah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (sa). The most evil of things are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation (bid’ah) is a going-astray. [Reported Muslim]

NB: For any action to be accepted by Allah it must meet the following 2 conditions:

  1. Sincerity of Intentions – it must be done soley for the sake of Allah, and for no other reason
  2. The action must be done the way Allah legislated, and the way His Prophet Muhammad (sa) legislated (clear evidence from the Qur’aan and Sunnah)

Who would refuse to Enter Paradise?

Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be please with him) reported that the Prophet (sa) said:

All of my Ummah will enter Paradise except those that refuse. Those who were with him (the Sahaabah/companions) said,  And who will refuse? He (sa) said: Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise and whoever disobeys me will have refused. (Sahih Al- Bukhari)

May Allah accept from us all; allow us to gain the rewards of the day of Ashura and may He (SWT) gather us all together with our Prophet Muhammad (s) in Jannah. Ameen
